Introduction
VetTeQ ("we," "our," or "us") operates the VetTeQ mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our App.
By using VetTeQ, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- First name and last name
- Email address
- Password (securely managed by Firebase Authentication)
You may optionally provide:
- Phone number
- Date of birth
- Profile photo
Pet Information
To use the App's core features, you provide information about your pets, including:
- Pet name, type, breed, date of birth, gender, and weight
- Spay/neuter status
- Allergies, current and previous health conditions
- Microchip number
- Veterinary clinic name and contact information
- Pet profile photos
Medication Records
When you track medications, we store:
- Drug name, formulation, strength, and dosage instructions
- Dose schedules (frequency, duration, start and end dates)
- Medication adherence logs (taken, missed, or skipped doses)
- Prescriber and clinical notes
Medical Documents
You may upload documents such as medical records, lab results, invoices, insurance documents, and photos. We store these files along with metadata (file name, category, tags, and dates).
Medication Label Photos
When you use the label scanning feature, photos of medication labels are temporarily processed to extract text. The photos themselves are not permanently stored — only the extracted medication data is saved.
Automatically Collected Information
We collect minimal automatic data:
- Last login timestamp
- Account creation and update timestamps
We do not use analytics, crash reporting, advertising SDKs, or any user behavior tracking tools.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the App's features (pet profiles, medication tracking, document storage)
- Authenticate your identity and secure your account
- Send medication reminder notifications that you have scheduled
- Enable pet profile sharing with family members or co-owners you invite
- Process medication label images to extract drug information (via AI)
We do not use your data for advertising, marketing, profiling, or selling to third parties.
Third-Party Services
Google Firebase
We use Google Firebase for authentication, data storage (Cloud Firestore), and file storage (Firebase Storage). Your data is stored on Google's servers and is subject to Firebase's Privacy Policy.
Firebase Analytics is disabled in our App.
Google Gemini AI
When you use the medication label scanning feature, your label photo is sent to the Google Gemini API for text extraction. This is initiated only by you and only when you choose to scan a label. The image is processed in transit and is not stored by us after processing. Google's use of this data is governed by Google's Gemini API Terms of Service.
Expo Notifications
We use the Expo notification service to deliver medication reminders to your device. Notification content includes your pet's name and medication details.
Data Sharing
Pet Sharing (User-Initiated)
You may invite other users to access your pet's profile by email. Invited users (co-owners or viewers) can see the pet's profile, medications, and documents based on the access level you grant. You can revoke access at any time.
No Sale of Data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal requests by public authorities.
Device Permissions
The App may request the following device permissions, each only when needed:
- Camera — To photograph medication labels for AI scanning
- Photo Library — To select photos for pet profiles or medication labels
- Notifications — To send medication reminder alerts
We do not request access to your location, contacts, microphone, or other sensitive device features.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in Google Firebase infrastructure, which provides encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Authentication tokens are managed by Firebase and stored securely on your device using platform-native secure storage.
While we implement reasonable safeguards, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
Data Retention and Deletion
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual records (pets, medications, documents) at any time within the App.
To request complete deletion of your account and all associated data, please contact us at admin@vet-teq.com. We will process your request within 30 days.
Children's Privacy
VetTeQ is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict processing of your data
- Request a portable copy of your data

Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy within the App or on this page. The "Effective Date" at the top reflects the latest revision.
